Promote disaster risk management and Humanitarian resilience
Promote disaster risk management and Humanitarian resilience
There are different development objectives for disaster risk management and humanitarian resilience. The development objectives are elaborated in different immediate objectives for more clarity. Relevant interventions will be carried out as per the community's needs, FAYA's capacity, and the availability of resources.
Development Objective 4.1: Strengthen Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Emergency Preparedness at All Levels
Immediate Objectives:
- Build the capacity of local governments and communities (especially women, youth, Dalits, people with disabilities and older population) for inclusive DRR planning and implementation.
- Develop and mainstream community-based early warning systems for multi-hazard risks (earthquake, floods, landslides, climate-induced disasters).
- Promote risk-informed development planning by integrating DRR into local development policies and budgets.
- Promote multi-stakeholder collaboration (government, private sector, CSOs) for anticipatory action and rapid emergency response.
Development Objective 4.2: Promote Humanitarian Action and Social Protection for Crisis-Affected Populations
Immediate Objectives:
- Conduct vulnerability and capacity assessments in high-risk communities to inform risk-sensitive infrastructure development and climate-smart livelihood promotion.
- Strengthen resilient infrastructure including schools, health facilities, and water systems through risk-sensitive construction, retrofitting and adoption of local innovations and technologies for hazard monitoring and emergency response.
- Establish inclusive, rapid response and relief mechanisms that prioritize marginalized groups and ensure dignified humanitarian assistance during disasters.
- Advocate for and facilitate psychosocial support and mental health services for disaster-affected populations.
Development Objective 4.3: Advance Risk Governance, Policy Advocacy, and Knowledge Management for Resilient Development
Immediate Objectives:
- Advocate for evidence-based DRR and humanitarian policies at local, provincial, and national levels.
- Facilitate digital-enabled knowledge sharing, research, and innovation in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and humanitarian resilience.
- Build the capacity of FAYA and partner organizations for effective risk governance and accountability.
- Mainstream cross-cutting issues (gender, social inclusion, child protection, environmental protection) in all DRR and humanitarian programs.
